Obituary of Kevin John O'Brien

Kevin John O’Brien, a talented Musician and Painter, passed away on January 9, 2020. He was 61 years old. Kevin was born, raised and educated in Burlington. He was a 1976 graduate of Burlington High School. He also attended Emerson College where he majored in Music. Kevin had a passion for music and loved all things music. During the 1980’s he was a member of a band called “The Agents” with a number of friends from Burlington. He played the keyboard and was the lead singer. Kevin was always thinking of songs, writing lyrics or composing and collaborating with his band mates. Some of his music even made it onto vinyl at a Watertown Studio. In 2000 he joined another group of friends in a band called “213 Cambridge St.”. Kevin worked in Radio and then as a Disc Jockey and Cruise Director on several cruise lines. These positions fueled his love of traveling, studying maps and reading about different countries. He also hosted a show on WRKO Radio. Kevin was an avid James Bond and Sherlock Holmes fan, had every film, book and memorabilia. There was no trivia question he didn’t know when it came to Bond and Holmes! Kevin was also a Boston sports fan and followed the Red Sox and the Patriots. In recent years Kevin operated his own house painting business. He was meticulous in his job and his work spoke for itself. Kevin never had to advertise and had many clients! He also had many painting projects in the town of Burlington. Being a painter was the perfect job for Kevin. He could set his own hours and still have time for his music in the evenings. Kevin was a devoted son to the late Muriel & John O’Brien. He is survived by his sisters Erin Mellen & her husband Dave of Litchfield NH. Tami Scott & her husband Barry Scott of Marco Island, FL. Beloved uncle of Shannon Taschereau & her husband Dan of Manchester NH and Casey Mellen of Litchfield NH.
