Obituary of Anne Louise Weiss

Anne Louise (Connarton) Weiss, a retired manager at Epsilon Company passed away after a long illness on Thursday night, February 20, 2020. She was 88 years old. Anne was born in Cambridge the daughter of Francis and Marybelle Connarton. She grew up in the waterfront community of Nahant and was a graduate of Lynn English High School. She went to work for New England Telephone and worked there for well over 15 years. During those years she became deeply involved in Camp Fatima on Suncook Lake, Gilmanton, NH. It was a summer camp run by the Catholic Church. Anne volunteered every year as a camp counselor during the weeks the camp was devoted to children with special needs. Working with the children was such a rewarding experience for her, opening their lives to the outdoors, swimming, boating, and all the fun activities offered at the camp as well as knowing that camp gave their families a bit of a respite as well. She created lasting bonds with the campers, staff, and the clergy that gave her life meaning and purpose. When she married at the age of 36, she had 6 of her friends that were priests on the altar to help celebrate her nuptials. She settled in Burlington in 1967 and found a second home at St. Margaret Church where she was a regular at the Saturday 4:30 mass. After her children were old enough, she went back to work at Epsilon in Burlington for over 20 years as a senior manager. After Anne married her late husband, Edward, she quickly started a family. Her 3 children were born within three years of each other. She devoted her life to her family. She was like June Cleaver. She ran the home, cared for her children, and made it all look effortless. She was always there for her children tending to their bumps and bruises, helping them in their life decisions, and supporting them in whatever direction they chose. She was a taxi driver, Girl Scout troop leader, and any other role her family needed. Her college care baskets were so big that they could last half a semester. When she became a grandmother or “Oma” she was thrilled. She would do anything for her grandchildren. She was “Oma’s Day Care” 3 days a week for her first grandchild, Emily, taking her taking on daily wallks, swimming, shopping, to the park and zoo, out to eat, and any other destination or activity that made her happy. Being with her grandchildren was her favorite activity. Her family will remember her warm and loveable personality, sparkling smile, unwavering patience, unwavering devotion, and love that she shared with all her family and friends. Anne was the beloved wife of the late Edward William Weiss who passed away in November of 2019. She was the loving mother of Liesl Catanzano & her husband Mark of Billerica, Scott Weiss & his wife Kerry of Marshfield, and the late Edward Weiss. She was the mother-in-law of Allison Weiss of Lake Placid, Florida. She was predeceased by her siblings; Joan Fielding and Robert Connarton. She was the proud Oma of Emily & Matthew Catanzano and Lauren, William, & Benjamin Weiss. A visitation will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn Street, Burlington on Monday, February 24 from 4-7 p.m. Funeral from the Sullivan Funeral Home on Tuesday, Feb. 25 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington at 10 a.m. Services will conclude with a burial in Pine Haven Cemetery in Burlington. Memorials in Anne’s name may be made to Camp Fatima, 32 Fatima Road, Gilmanton Iron Works, NH 03837 or www.bfcamp.com
