Obituary of Donna G. Van Putten

Donna Gale (Malone) Van Putten, a retired waitress, passed away after an extended illness on Sunday morning, March 29, 2020.  She was 70 years old.  Donna was born in Winchester.  She was one of four children born to Verilyn and Bertram “Bert” Malone.  She grew up in Burlington.  Donna has made Lowell her home for the past 35 years. She was a longtime employee at Belagio Restaurant in Billerica.  She enjoyed working with her fellow employees, chatting with and serving the customers many of whom were regulars, and providing delicious meals. She had also worked at the Café Escadrille during her career.  She loved animals, especially cats.  She got hooked on going to the “one friendly Island” of Aruba many years ago.  She and her husband tried to make it a yearly occurrence.  She loved sitting on the beach, soaking up the sun, going out to eat, and lounging in the warm tranquil Caribbean water.  She had a great love for her husband of 32 years, Robert Van Putten.  She was so proud of her one and only son, Jim Maguire.  Jim was the apple of her eye.  She loved being his mother, raising him as a child, and seeing him become an adult.  She was so proud of his accomplishments and become a strong, independent, and caring man.  Donna was also survived by her 2 sisters and their spouses: Dyane Malone Short & her husband Michael Short, Kathy Denehy & her husband Robert of Lowell,  and several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her loving parents; Verilyn and Bertram Malone, and her brother, Harry Malone.  Funeral services will be private.  Memorials in Donna’s name may be made to American Heart Association, 300 5th Ave, Waltham, MA 02451 or www.heart.org
