Polyxeni (Chunias) “Polly” Liapis, passed away at her home on Monday morning, April 6, 2020.  Polly had just celebrated her 86th birthday in March.

Polly was born and raised in New York.  She was the daughter of the late Harry and Martha Chunias.  At the age of 18 her family moved to Massachusetts and settled in Arlington.  She eventually moved to Burlington in 1972.  Polly’s life was all about her family and her church.  She had a nurturing nature about her and was always caring for others.  She helped take care for her mom as her health began to decline.  Polly was a loving and supportive mother to her children George and Martha.   She loved to cook, with Greek food being her specialty.   Polly was a longtime member of the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary Green Orthodox Church.  The members of the church were like family to her.  She helped run the festivals and was a member of various groups throughout the years including the Woman’s Club.  Polly was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Polly was the Beloved wife of the late James.  Loving mother of George Liapis of Carmel and Martha Vieira & her partner Barry Corcoran of Burlington.   Proud grandmother of Demitri Liapis and Victoria Vieira.  Great grandmother of Daniel    Sister of Theodore Chunias & his wife Paula of Andover and the late George Chunias.  Sister-in-law of Joyce Chunias of Middleton.  Polly is also survived by many nieces and nephews.   Funeral Services will be private.  In lieu of flowers memorials in Polly’s name may be made to the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church, 70 Montvale Ave, Woburn, MA 01801.
