Obituary of Elizabeth A Quinton

Elizabeth A. (York) Quinton passed away at the Woburn Nursing Center on Friday morning, April 17, 2020. Betty was 90 years old.

Betty was born in Portland Maine. She was the daughter of the late Walter Yorke and Helen Yorke-Greene. Betty was raised and educated in Cambridge. She married her husband, Arthur, on January 28, 1950 and settled in Cambridge. In the early 1960’s Betty and Arthur would move their family from the city of Cambridge to the small community of Burlington. They loved their neighborhood in Burlington and made many lifelong friendships. She had an open-door policy at her home and always welcomed her children’s friends. The children in the neighborhood affectionately called her “Aunt Betty”. She also was referred to as Betty, Betty Boop, Mom, Nonnie and Nonsense. Betty was very active in her community dedicating her time to Brownies, Girl Scouts, and Boy Scouts. As a family they enjoyed vacationing at their lake house in Shapleigh, Maine a tradition that continues in the Quinton family.

Betty had many interests, hobbies and enjoyed arts and crafts and gardening. Her greatest joy was her family. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Betty would think nothing of taking all her grandchildren to the lake house during their school vacations.

Betty will be remembered as a woman who always had a smile on her face and a huge heart. She was caring and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend.
