Janet.and Jjerry and family:
I was working on my old army when Maureen came out and gave me a hug. She told me your mom died. It felt like I was in an elevator that suddenly was racing to the ground floor.
As you know I used to plow your parents driveway. I could not stand to see them shoveling snow. Your mom often called me in and we had tea and cookies. One day she called me in and said Bob wanted to talk to me. We sat down and Bob said he was going to leaving us soon. I grabbed your mom’s hand. She squeezed my hand to console me. Your wonderful mom was worried about me. Of course, I and many others helped our friend Bob as his passing approached. Your mom always was so nice to us. She was the strongest and sweetest person I knew.
The last time your mom had dinner at our house, everyone else was talking at once. She was quietly absorbing it all and saying little. I think Gregg was giving her a ride home that night. I remember taking her aside and saying how I wished I had spent more time talking to her. She smiled like she always did and said something like there was little she had to say. She just enjoyed other people and did not have to talk about her own life. As we know, that is just how she was; sweet.
Your father asked me a few days before he passed if I believed in God. I told him I did and that I believed we would all be seeing each other again. I told him I was eager to introduce him to my dad and friends of mine who had passed and not met him. He laughed and said that was true for him also. Your parents were such good friends, such good people. We loved them and knew we were fortunate to have them in our lives.
I believe these two wonderful people are together again. I believe we will see them once more. If I get there first, I will keep the tea pot handy and save some of those cookies!
Our sincerest sympathies to you and your family. Mike and Maureen Breen

Greg & Karen posted a condolence

Shirley...was a wonderful kindhearted person and for the short time Karen and I knew her she was a joy to visit and spend time with...Previously we had met her husband Bob Erlandson just prior to his passing away and always enjoyed our conversations and visits with them both...Shirley always saw the brighter side of life with a humble spirit and grateful heart for God's grace and blessings in her life...she truly exemplified her faith and understanding that it is not what we accumulate in material things in life but her kind and humble legacy she left behind this side of eternity...I thought it strange when I looked up at the calendar date of April 20th to note Shirley's new address "Heaven" and then saw the passage on the calendar "John 14-27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." This is the same verse that stayed by my mother's beside up to her passing and with her burial...and then realized there are no coincidences in God's timing and felt the closeness and loss of my own mother...Our most sincere condolences go out to her children and all her family....God Bless you All
Love, Greg and Karen Johns
