Carol Eleanor Mitchell, passed away at Emerson Hospital in Concord, following a lengthy and brave battle with breast cancer, she was 58 years old.

 

Carol was born in Medford. She was raised and educated in Burlington and is a 1980 graduate from Burlington High School. Carol was a member of the Burlington High Swim Team and was a star athlete on the team. She was also a member of the Burlington Country Club Swim Team, which her family was a member of for many years. Carol extended her education by taking additional courses at many of the local colleges. She worked as a Retail Clerk at many local shopping facilities in Burlington such as Macy’s and Filene’s. With her outgoing personality it was the perfect job for Carol as she loved her daily interaction with her customers. 

 

Carol was a member of the Catholic Group CAC where she had many cherished friends. With this great group of friends, they created a “Birthday Club” where they celebrated each other’s birthdays throughout the year. These past few years Carol had been living at Care One in Concord. She was very much loved by all the residents and staff at Care One. Carol was always extending her hand to help others. She was affectionately known as the “Coordinator”. Carol would arrange games of bingo, help at the gift shop and was always there to lend a helping hand to her fellow residents. Carol was a strong and compassionate person. She was happy-go-lucky, fun, lighthearted and the life of the party. She made her friends laugh. Her oncologist at Lahey Hospital & Medical Center said Carol was “Beloved” by the staff at the Sophia Gordon Cancer Society. She was a special woman who will be missed by all those who knew her and loved her. 

 

Carol was the beloved daughter of the late Eleanor (Gannon) and Robert Mitchell. She was the loving sister of Robert Mitchell & his wife Christine of Methuen, John Mitchell & his wife Eileen of Whitinsville, William Mitchell of Burlington, Ann Mitchell of Lexington, Marie Mitchell of Bedford, and David Mitchell & his wife Kate of Wilmington. Proud aunt of Owen and Abigail Mitchell of Wilmington. Carol is also survived by many close friends. Funeral Services will be private. Arrangements under the direction of the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, Burlington.
