Obituary of Florence Faria

Florence M. Faria, a woman whose life was focused around her family’s happiness passed away after a long illness on Saturday afternoon, December 22, 2012. She was 78 years old. Flo was born at the family home in Allston, the daughter of the late William and Ella Wilkinson. She was one of 12 children growing up in a modest home, filled with laughter, love and commotion. It was this strong sense of family that Flo held dearly throughout her life. She never wanted to be the center of attention, she just wanted to be a part of her children and grandchildren’s lives. She was the loving wife for 55 years. She was a caring and supportive mother and a fun and loving grandmother. She was always happiest when she was at home or at the Lake House in Raymond, NH surrounded by her family. She was an energetic grandmother who would be in the water or kayak with her grandchildren rather than sitting on the beach watching them. She was a loyal Red Sox fan, an avid reader of fiction novels and a member of several bowling leagues. She will always be remembered for her simple and steadfast devotion to her family. Florence was the wife of Joseph Faria. She was the loving mother of Mark of Burlington, Denise McCabe & her husband Jeffrey of Tewksbury, Elaine Murphy & her husband Chuck of North Reading. She was the sister of Barbara Jean Kelley of Dedham, Robert Wilkinson of Somerville and the late Marilyn Klimas, Doris Barnes, Muriel Reese, William, Gordon, Ethel, Charles, George and John Wilkinson. She was the proud grandmother of Rachael & Christopher McCabe, Brooke & Lauren Murphy. Funeral Services will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., Burlington (Exit 34 off Rt., 128, Woburn side) on Thursday, Dec. 27 at 11 a.m. Visiting hours Wednesday 4-8 p.m. Burial will be private. Memorials in Florence’s name may be made to the Salvation Army, 147 Berkley St., Boston, MA 02116-5197.
