William Michael Damour, a retired Civil Engineer and Surveyor, passed away peacefully with family at his bedside on Friday, June 12, 2020.  He was 84 years old.  Bill was born in Hartford, CT.  He was one of four children born to Philip and Elizabeth Damour.  His family moved around when Bill was young and eventually settled in Arlington, MA.  Bill graduated from Arlington High School in 1953.  He enlisted in the Army in 1954 and served as Private First Class during the Korean War.  After his discharge, he enrolled at Northeastern University where he earned an Associate’s Degree in Civil Engineering.  He spent 40 years working in the Engineering Department for the town of Arlington as a Civil Engineer and Registered Land Surveyor.

Bill married Margie, the love of his life, in 1968 and moved to Burlington in 1969.  He was hardworking, independent and resourceful.  There wasn’t much he couldn’t build or fix around his and his family and friend’s homes.  He learned many of his carpentry skills from his father, and taught himself the additional skills of electrical, plumbing and automotive repair.

He enjoyed relaxing on many summer vacations with family and friends throughout New England. Bill had an easy way about him. He knew how to have a good time and make those around him happy.  He always had a bright smile and loved to tell jokes.  He loved good music and was unrivaled on the dance floor.

He loved when he became a grandfather.  He enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s school events, sporting events, concerts and plays.  He was very proud of all of their many accomplishments.

Bill was a devoted husband of 52 years to Margaret Ellen (Cashman). He was the loving father of Richelle O’Hearn &her husband Bob of Tewksbury, Kerry Foraste & her husband Mike of North Andover, and Michael Damour & his wife Christy of North Andover.  He was the brother of Elaine Damour of San Diego, CA, and the late Barbara McTighe and Catherine Brackbill.  He was the proud grandfather of Bobby & Stephen O’Hearn, Elizabeth & Christopher Foraste, and Sean, Emma & Avery Damour.  He is also survived my many nieces, nephews, and friends.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington on Tuesday, July 7 at 10 a.m.   Burial to follow in Pine Haven Cemetery.    In lieu of flowers, memorials in Bill’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 www.stjude.org.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children Research Hospital.
