Obituary of Barbara Jean Molloy

Barbara Jean Molloy passed away peacefully on Sunday night, July 12, 2020, at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House in Reading.  She was 83 years old.  Barbara was born in Arlington.  She was one of 3 children born to John and Elizabeth Molloy.  Barbara grew up and was educated in Arlington.  She was a member of the Arlington High School Class of 1955.  For Barbara, friends were for forever.  She remained close to her friends she met at elementary school, “The ABC Girls”, as well as a host of friends she has met during her lifetime.  She was the type of friend who you could always count on.  Thursday nights was girl’s nights, where they would get together drink tea, talk about current events, and reminisce about the good old days growing up in Arlington.  There were also Birthday dinners and countless other reasons to socialize. 

Barbara had a strong devotion to her family.  She was the loving and devoted daughter of John and Elizabeth Molloy.  After her father’s passing, she was always there to support and brighten her mother’s life.  The two of them would take a yearly trip to California to visit with her father’s sister, Bette Femons.  They also took several trips to Ireland together.  She had a strong bond with her siblings, niece, nephews, and cousins.  She loved being together as a family to celebrate the holidays and partaking in all their special occasions, activities, interests, and milestones.  She also could be happy quietly working on her jigsaw puzzles, doing her yardwork, and tending to her garden.  She was truly a special woman who was loved by her family and friends.

Barbara was the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Boggs) Molloy. She was predeceased by her siblings; Thomas Molloy and Bette Femons. She was the loving aunt of Jonathan Femons of CA, Thomas Molloy of CA, Bette Molloy of Boston, and Michael Molloy of Arlington.  Barbara was also survived by many cousins and longtime childhood friends. 

A Graveside Service will be held at Mount Auburn Cemetery, 580 Mt Auburn St, Cambridge, MA on Friday, July 17 at 10:45 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Salvation Army, www.salvationarmyusa.org.  Arrangements by the Sullivan Funeral Home, Burlington.
