Obituary of Vivian R Hines

Vivian R. (Cormier) Hines, a retired assistant Vice President at Cambridge Savings Bank, passed away peacefully after spending her last days saying goodbye to her family and friends on Monday morning, September 14, 2020.  She was 80 years old.  Vivian was born in New Bedford, Massachusetts.  She was the daughter of Edwin and Beatrice Cormier.  She grew up and was educated in New Bedford.  She moved to Billerica in 1964.  Vivian began her career in banking as a teller at Old Colony Bank in Burlington.  Being a driven woman, she knew furthering her education was the key to moving up in the banking industry.  She went to school at night at Emmanuel College where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Business.  Her career path moved from teller, teller trainer, customer service representative, branch manager, and ended her career as assistant vice president.  As the banking industry continuously changed with mergers and acquisitions, she moved from Old Colony Bank, Bank Five, Bank of Boston, and finally to Cambridge Savings Bank.  One of her best qualities and keys to success, along with her hard work, was her personality.  She was welcoming, compassionate, professional, and always had a positive outlook.  Her customers simply loved her because she was approachable, helpful, and more like a friend.

Vivian’s warm and energetic personality made spending time with her delightful.  She was simply a fun person.  She had endless circles of friends; her co-workers, travel gang, T.O.P.S. friends, neighbors, church, Billerica Council on Aging, and many others.  For example, the Aruba group at the Casa del mar Resort included 30 people at one point; they traveled, dined, took excursions, and most importantly enjoyed sitting on the beach soaking up the warm Aruba sun.  She created so many lasting memories with laughter, love, and maybe a glass of wine!

Vivian was the beloved mother of Darlene Hines of Columbus, GA, Philip J. Hines, Jr. & his wife Denise of Billerica and Michael Hines & his wife Margaret of St. Augustine, FL.  Proud grandmother of Michael Hines, II of St. Augustine, FL and Matthew Hines of Miami, FL.  Sister of Richard Cormier of Farmington, ME and the late Irene Dagesse of Bridgewater, Ma. Aunt of Pauline Dagesse of Tauton, MA.  Visiting hours will be held at the Edward V Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128/95 Woburn side) on Thursday, Sept 17 from 4-7 p.m.  Funeral from the Funeral Home on Friday, Sept. 18 at 9 a.m.  Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Margaret Church of St. Veronica Parish, 111 Winn St., Burlington at 10 a.m.  Burial to follow in Pine Haven Cemetery, Burlington.  Memorials in Vivian’s name may be made to the Billerica Council on Aging, 25 Concord Road, Billerica, MA 01821.
