Rose Irene Goffredo, a retired executive administrative assistant, passed away unexpectedly on Friday December 4th, 2020. She was 81 years old. Rose was born in the family home in Billerica in 1939. She was the daughter of Joseph and Irene Arcand. Rose grew up in West Roxbury and was a graduate of The Catholic Memorial High School in West Roxbury. She married Robert Goffredo and they made their home in Everett before settling in Burlington in 1967. When her daughters were young, Rose’s life revolved around their upbringing and happiness. She was a member of their school’s PTO and their Girl Scout leader. She supported them in their activities, interests, and life decisions and challenges. When their daughters were all settled in school, she went to work first part time and then full time. She worked for over 20 years as an executive administrative assistant at the Milsatcom, Dynamics Research, which was a defense contractor, located at Hanscom Air Force Base. She retired at the age of 70.
Rose had a vibrant and caring personality. She was a supportive mother to her daughters and a fun and entertaining grandmother and great grandmother. Her daughters always knew that she was just a phone call away when they needed some motherly advice and a helping hand. It gave her so much joy to be a “Grammy” and “Mimi”! She was the brightest part of their lives and cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren. Gram was easy to talk to and shared her love of games and mini donuts. She went to their baseball games, dance recitals, soccer games, basketball games, school events, and any other activity or event in which they were partaking in. Outside of her home, she had a wonderful circles of friends. There were her neighbors, work associates, bowling teammates, the card girls, and her horse racing enthusiasts. She got a big thrill going to the races. Each summer, she took a trip to Saratoga Springs with her friend Ellen. Rose enjoyed many trips with her dear friend Maryann where they traveled the east coast for many college drop offs and pick-ups. She also loved spending time at the beaches of York, Maine. Rose loved to entertain and have her friends and family come to her home. She was the life of the party! Her laugh was contagious! She was an amazing cook which she shared those traits with her daughters. In the most recent years, she has resided at the Tower Hill Apartments in Burlington where she served for several years as the secretary in the tenant’s association. Her unexpected passing is difficult to accept, but she will be remembered as a strong independent woman, who recognized and overcame life’s challenges, and loved her family and friends.
Rose was the loving mother of Donna Sheeran & her husband Peter of Pelham, NH and Laura Landry of West Newbury & her companion Craig Poirier. She was predeceased by her brother; James Hutchins and sister; Pauline Arcand. She was the proud grandmother of Jessica Thompson & her husband Keith, Matthew Gingras & his fiancée Katie Zayla, Nicholas Scribner & his wife Marissa, and Heather Gingras. She was the great grandmother of Ellenore & Grace Thompson and Addison Scribner. She was loved by her many nieces and nephews.
