Obituary of James Hancox

James H. Hancox, a resident of Burlington for 40 years, passed away at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington on January 13, 2012. The beloved husband of 59 years of Phyllis (Meuse) he was 83 years old. Jim was born in Trenton, New Jersey. He was the son of the late Frederick and Marion Hancox. He was raised and educated in Stoneham. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He was very proud of his service to his country and was a member of the American Legion. After the service Jim went on to have a career as a Metal Spinner. He worked at Malden Metal Spinners for over 20 years until his retirement. Jim enjoyed gardening. He loved to visit his cousins farm in Maine – he enjoyed being on the farm and visiting with his large family. Jim enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and was very proud of their accomplishments. Jim was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Jim was the beloved husband of Phyllis (Meuse). He was the loving father of James Jr. of Burlington and the late Scott Hancox and Cheryl Burke. Brother of Ann DeAngelis & her husband Larry of Chelmsford and the late Frederick Hancox and Dolly Surette. Grandfather of Melissa & Michael Burke of Billerica and John Hancox of NC. Father-in-law of William Burke of Billerica. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral Services will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt 128 Woburn side) on Thursday, Jan 17 at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Wednesday 5-8 p.m.
