Charlene A. (Brooks) Gioiosa, a retired employee of New England Telephone, passed away at the Lahey Hospital Medical Center in Burlington on Thursday afternoon, March 18, 2021. The beloved wife of Robert Gioiosa, she was 74 years old.
Charlene was born in Waltham. She was the daughter of the late Elijah and Mary Brooks. Charlene spent the beginning of her childhood in Somerville until her family purchased a home in Burlington. She was a 1964 graduate of Burlington High School. After high school Charlene went on to have a long career at New England Telephone working in the finance department. Charlene was a smart woman, organized and a good leader at New England Telephone. She took early retirement after 35 years of service to the organization.
Charlene and Bob married in 1975. They lived in Arlington and Medford before returning to Burlington to live in the family home. They enjoyed taking their vacations on Lake Winnipesaukee and in later years would rent a home in Maine for vacations. They took many road trips to visit Bob’s family in Chicago and Michigan. Charlene had a good sense of humor and could always make you laugh. She will be remembered as a caring but spirited woman who devoted her life to her husband Bob who was the love of her life.
Charlene was the wife of Robert Gioiosa. Loving stepmother of Jay Gioiosa, his wife Jean and their children Joe & Matthew of Grafton. Sister of the late Donald Brooks. Charlene also leaves behind a large extended loving family and friends. Funeral Services were private.
