Shirley Ann Tamulynas, a retired executive secretary, passed away after a short illness on Monday morning, March 22, 2021 at her home with her family at her bedside.  She was 84 years old. Shirley was born in Medford.  She was the daughter of Angelo and Margaret Gennelly.  She grew up and was educated in Medford.  She was a Medford High School graduate.  She married and they settled in Burlington in 1960 to raise her 3 sons.  She worked for over 20 years at W.R. Grace.  She worked her way to up to become the Executive Assistant to the President of W.R. Grace.  She moved to Florida for several years when W. R. Grace relocated from Massachusetts.  When her division of W. R. Grace was purchased by McDermid Graphic Arts, Inc., she remained with the new company for 7 more years as the Executive Assistant to the President.  She loved the challenges of her work and her coworkers who were like family.

Shirley was one who could never sit idle.  Raising 3 very active sons kept her on her toes for many years.  Then she enjoyed tending to her flower gardens and working on her arts and crafts.  Many a family and friend were recipients of her handmade wreaths.  She also volunteered her time at the Burlington Council on Aging.  Her biggest passion was her family.  She was a loving and supportive mother to her sons.  She was a fun and entertaining “Nana” to her 5 grandchildren.  Nothing made her happier than when they came for a visit, Sunday dinner, or gave her call.  Shirley also had a great circle of friends and many longtime neighbors whom she loved sharing time with.  She was a strong independent woman who loved her family and will be lovingly remembered and missed.

Shirley was the loving mother of David J. Tamulynas & his wife Robin of Tyngsborough, Michael J. Tamulynas of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and John J. Tamulynas, III & his wife Pamela of North Andover. She was predeceased by her sister, Joan Fredella.  She was the proud grandmother of Rianna Tamulynas, John Tamulynas IV, Zachary Tamulynas, Katharyn and Jacquelyn Harrington.  Shirley was the beloved aunt of Lianne & Gerard Kivney, Mark Bingel, Paul Bingel, Jennifer Foster, David Fredella, Andrea Bertonazzi, Paul Fredella, Christopher Fredella, and the late Christine Harrington.
