Obituary of Catherine Lawlor

Catherine L. Lawlor passes away at the age of 95. Catherine was born in Somerville, the daughter of the late Edward and Anna Bulger. She grew up in Arlington and Somerville. At the age of 20, she married James Lawlor and they eventually settled in Burlington in 1957. Catherine was an extremely independent and thoughtful woman. She was always a mother and Gram first, placing her family’s needs above her own. She was always in the kitchen and cooking for everyone. She enjoyed working at the Almy’s Department Store in Burlington. She was there when the doors of the store first opened until they closed 20 or so years later. The store, coworkers, and regular customers were like a second family. She took great pride in her home and spent countless hours maintaining her flower gardens and yard. She enjoyed being outside and trips to Cape Cod and Ogunquit. What made her happiest was being with her family and was fortunate to have lived with her daughter and her family for the past 23 years. Her later years were enhanced by all the love and devotion her family returned to her. Catherine was the beloved wife of the late James R. Lawlor. She was the loving mother of Margaret Robbins & her husband, Harland of Burlington and James Lawlor, Jr. of Brooksville, FL. She was predeceased by her siblings; Mary Day, Edward and John Bulger. She was the proud “Gram” to William Robbins of Chelmsford, Mark Robbins of Burlington, Scott Lawlor of Goffstown, NH, the late Harland “Bob” Robbins, III and Eric Lawlor. She was also survived by 6 great grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington on Tuesday, January 29 at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Burlington. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Catherine’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 480 Pleasant Street, Watertown, MA 02472. Arrangements by the Edward V.
