Norma Spezzaferri

Obituary of Norma Marie Spezzaferri

Norma Marie (Fuligni) Spezzaferri passed away at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House on Wednesday morning, June 2, 2021.  The beloved wife of the late John Joseph Spezzaferri, she was 91 years old.

Norma was born and raised in Medford. She was one of five children born to Italian immigrants the late Augustino and Enrica Fuligni.   Norma was a 1947 graduate of Medford High School.  It was while working at Conrad’s in Boston that she would meet her future husband, John.  It was love at first sight.  They married in 1949 and moved to Burlington in 1954.

Simply said Norma was a homebody and driven by the needs of her family.  She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed making home cooked meals for her husband and children.  She was a role model for her four children.  Norma let her children know that there were boundaries and rules but was also loving and supportive.    As a family they enjoyed taking vacations to the White Mountains, Cape Cod and to Florida to visit her parents.  During her younger years she enjoyed knitting, sewing and ceramics.   She kept up on current events and could hold a conversation with anyone on any political topic.  She was blessed to see the birth of her two grandchildren John Henry and Brianna.  They were her greatest joy.  During their younger days nothing made Norma happier than babysitting for them. She was proud to see them grow into adulthood and was looking forward to the wedding of her grandson John Henry next January. Norma will be remembered for her feisty but sweet personality whose greatest love was that of her husband, children, and grandchildren.

Norma was the wife of the late John J.  Loving mother of Diane Mulcahy & her late husband Timothy of Wakefield, John V. of Woburn, Gary J. of Burlington, and Nancy of Burlington.  Proud grandmother of John Henry Spezzaferri & his fiancée Erika Leahy and Brianna Spezzaferri.  Sister of Constance Carpenito, Augustino “Sonny” Fuligni both of Stoneham and the late Gloria Russo and Ridi Ligi.  Funeral Services will be private.  In lieu of flowers memorials in Norma’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701 www. www.cancer.org or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 www.stjude.org
