Obituary of Margaret Anne Heneghan
Margaret (Casey) Heneghan, known for her warm and affectionate personality, passed away at Billerica Crossings on Tuesday evening, July 13, 2021. She was 90 years old.
Peggy was born in Brighton. She was one of six children born to Irish immigrants the late James & Julia Casey. Peggy was raised and educated at Our Lady of Presentation school. After high school, she attended St. Elizabeth School of Nursing in Brighton where she was presented the award of “Best Bedside Nurse” from her graduating class. Prior to raising her family, she worked at John Hopkins in Baltimore and the Deaconess Hospital in Boston. She then worked at Choate Hospital in Woburn for many years. After Choate closed, she went to work at Lahey in Burlington. Peggy also worked as an Outreach Nurse at the Burlington Council of Aging. Peggy’s most important role in life was that of Mom to her seven children. She was a strong woman who worked hard. She thought the arts were important and took her children to concerts and museums. She enjoyed visiting with friends and family across the United States and Europe. Peggy was a woman of deep faith and a longtime member of St. Malachy Parish in Burlington. She was involved in volunteer activities at the church and became dear friends with some parishioners. She was a eucharist minister at the church and volunteered her services at Lahey Clinic.
Peggy was the beloved mother of Richard of MA, Julie Stewart & her husband Bob of Chelmsford, Mary Smith & her husband David of Littleton, James & his wife Cathy of PA, Craig & his wife Wisla of Southborough, Christopher and his partner Angel of FL, and Joseph & his wife Dorota of LA. Proud grandmother of Megan, Tyler, Justin, Nolan, Liam, Evan, Aaden and Elizabeth and great grandmother of Cyprus and Lachlan. Sister of the late Mary Maloney, Elizabeth Chancholo, and James, William & Joseph Casey. Peggy is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Malachy Church at St. Veronica Parish, www.stveronicama.org, 99 Bedford St. Burlington on Tuesday, July 20 at 10 a.m. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers memorials in Peggy’s name may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, MA Chapter, 309 Waverley Oaks Rd., Waltham, MA 02452 www.alz.org
