Obituary of Nancy B Smith
Nancy B. (Johnson) Smith passed away at the Pleasant Valley Nursing Center in Derry, New Hampshire on Thursday, August 12, 2021. The beloved wife of James Smith, she was 60 years old.
Nancy was born in Winchester. Nancy was raised in Burlington and a 1979 graduate of Shawsheen Technical High School in Billerica. It was while she was a freshman, she would meet upper classman James (Jim) Smith, who was a senior at the time. They began dating when their paths crossed again while they were both working at Choate Hospital in Woburn. They married in January of 1983 and settled in Burlington until moving to Derry, New Hampshire in 1991.
Nancy worked as a Nurse in the Health Care field for many years. She received her Nursing Degree from Tewksbury State Hospital. Nancy worked at the Aberjona Nursing Home in Winchester, the Hillsborough County Jail in Manchester, and for a local medical provider in Londonderry. With her caring and compassionate nature, it was the perfect job for Nancy.
Nancy’s greatest joy was her family. When their children were younger, they enjoyed taking day trips around New Hampshire and Maine. You were one of the special people in her life if you received a card from Nancy with a handwritten note. She always enjoyed phone conversations with her family and friends and could talk for hours! Nancy enjoyed reading mystery novels, crime shows on television and watching a good horror movie! Nancy also enjoyed going out to play Bingo on weekend nights with her mother and her sister. She cherished being a grandmother and was so blessed to have four beautiful granddaughters. Nancy will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor and her love and devotion to her family.
Nancy was the beloved wife of James (Jim) Smith of Derry, New Hampshire. She was the proud mother of Melanie Paul & her husband Adam of Jacksonville, FL, Jimmy Smith of Derry, NH and Katie Smith & her fiancée Tom Haley of Manchester, NH. Nancy was the loving Grammy of Macey, Braylen, Kinley & Sayler Paul. She was the devoted daughter of Jean Johnson & the late Richard of Derry, NH and the loving sister of Sandy Trull & her husband Mike of Londonderry, NH.
Visiting hours will be held at the Edward V Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON on Thursday, August 19 from 5-7 p.m. Funeral Services will be private.
