Obituary of Evelyn F. Gentile

Evelyn F. (Peach) Gentile, a retired Payroll Clerk for the Town of Burlington, passed away at the Life Care Center of Merrimack Valley, on Wednesday afternoon, February 6, 2013. Evelyn was born in Everett. She was the daughter of the late Arthur & Elizabeth Peach. Evelyn was raised and educated in Malden. Evelyn enjoyed spending time at Revere Beach during her youth and it was there that she met her husband Frank. They settled in Burlington in 1963. Evelyn led a full and active life. She worked for the Burlington School Department for over 10 years as a Payroll Clerk. Every Friday night Evelyn and her husband Frank would go out to dinner together. They traveled together and visited such places as Hawaii, Vegas and her most favorite destination being Aruba. Thursday nights were set aside for her close circle of friends for a weekly game of cards. They affectionately called themselves the “Polka Dots”. They played at a different home each week enjoying a game of cards and a meal together. Evelyn enjoyed bowling and belonged to several leagues throughout the years. She participated in many socials at the Senior Center and took several of their trips visiting destinations such as Florida, Italy and Spain. Evelyn was blessed to be a part of her three grandchildren’s lives and had a very special and close relationship with all of them. She was proud to see them grow into young adults. Evelyn had recently become a great grandmother with the birth of twins Mikayla and Nicholas. Evelyn was the beloved wife of the late Frank V. Gentile. She was the loving mother of Deborah Pietila of Lowell & her late husband Bruce and Frank V. Gentile, Jr. Sister of Arthur Peach of NH, Dottie Ellard of Malden & Jeannette Orsargos of DE. Proud grandmother of Christopher DiRocco of San Diego, CA, Nicole DiRocco of Billerica & Amanda Leigh Gentile of Burlington. Great grandmother of Mikayla & Nicholas. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Tuesday, Feb. 12 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Monday 4-8 p.m. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers memorials in Evelyn’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472
