Obituary of Pamella Lee Sperry

Pamella Lee Sperry, a retired account manager, passed away on Sunday afternoon, September 12, 2021.  She was 78 years old.  Pamella was born in Waltham.  She was one of three children born to Sigur O and Dorothy Sandstrom.  She played the Accordion, studied dance and Ballet with her cousin Barbra.  She loved spending time with her mother and sister cooking and baking.  Swedish coffee bread, cookies, Swedish meatballs, and pies were always a favored by family and friends.  Later in life, she and her sister Alice took cake decorating and real estate classes together.  She enjoyed cooking and baking for family and friends especially celebrations.  She was a graduate of Waltham High School where she studied secretarial and business classes.  She worked for many years as a bookkeeper for Irwin’s Furniture Store in Waltham.  After putting her working career on hold for a while to raise her two sons. she returned to work as an account manager for Aerodyne Research in Billerica and Bedford.  She enjoyed her career and coworkers.  She retired after 27 years with the company.

Pamella was a woman who loved her family, friends, and soon to be friends.  The saying: “Her door was always open” could have been written to describe Pamella.  She was the consummate host.  She loved bringing people together.  She would spend days in her kitchen cooking and baking preparing for company.  For decades, she and her family hosted international students who wanted to immerse themselves in American culture.  She became like a second mother to them.  Some students stayed for a semester, others for years.  She enjoyed trips all over New England.  She enjoyed browsing around local stores, going to craft fairs church events and yard sales.  She was a longtime member of the Eastern Star in Marlborough and supportive wife of a Mason.  She enjoyed participating in the charitable events and socials in both organizations.  She was also well known for her phone calls to find out what is new in someone’s life, sharing her family’s news, and just keeping friendships strong.  For Pamella, texting and posting could never replace a real conversation.  She will be missed, but forever remembered for the love and kindness she shared with others.

Pamella was the beloved wife of 59 years of James D. Sperry.  She was the loving mother of Douglas J. Sperry and Daniel L. Sperry both of Burlington.  She was the caring sister of the late Alice Johnson and Thomas Sandstrom.  She was the grandmother of Karter Cordeiro, Devon, Traverse, Dylan, and Alyssa Sperry.  Great grandmother of Skylar, Caleb, Brooklyn, Cameron, Emma, Liam, Shane, Milton, Emmitt and Roger.   She was the aunt of Lisa Gauthier of Winchendon and Leanne Sandstrom of Waltham and cousin of Donald Sandstrom of Stowe.  She was also survived by devoted family Member Alan Kusuma and her loving dog Holly.  There will be a Memorial Service held on Friday, September 24th,2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church, 6 Eddie Street, Waltham, MA.
