Friends since we were 14....how to say good-bye? Hopefully, the tears will dry as memories of our good times brighten. Laurie, dispenser of common sense, good advice, witty remarks, silly and meaningful conversation, big -sister (by 2 months) help like carrying my suitcases while rushing for our 9 hr. train ride from CNR home to Rochester...our history was the bedrock for an unbreakable friendship. Your courage and persistence facing formidable health challenges show us how to live fully and fearlessly. Rest in peace, dear chum.
Love,
Wendy

Our sincere sympathy to the family. I have wonderful memories of Laurie as a friend and colleague. Our conversations were always fun and insightful
Laurie had a way of being always candid and perceptive about people and issues. Like her students, I learned much from our conversations and valued her opinions. With her good humor and kindness , she was a wonderful teacher and friend. She contributed so much to her profession, Suffolk and her department , but most importantly to her students. The Sawyer School is so much better and stronger because of her efforts, leadership , and commitment to our learning community . We will all miss her and remember her fondly. Rest In Peace, Laurie

Margaret (now gone, too), Laurie, and I (Sandra, see photos) shared many a cup of coffee (the second photo was taken at Johnyy's in Newton Centre over one of our many breakfasts together), dinner, and glass of wine over the years. Laurie was a giving and loving person, always wonderful to be around, smart, funny, and engaged. She really cared about her students, colleagues, and the institutions that she worked at. We first connected in the BU doctoral program, then later were colleagues at Boston College for years, till she left to work for Suffolk U. We stayed in touch for many years, till she entered assisted living, working through the difficult times, creating new traditions for ourselves, and finding ways to make life fun. I remember when she was diagnosed with Parkinson's and her courage as she dealt with it--very effectively for a long time. Laurie was a strong, insightful, remarkable person. She was so proud of Casey and of Evan once he was born, and I know she is greatly missed by all who knew her.
