Obituary of Betty Ann Moore

Betty Ann Moore, a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, neighbor, and friend too many passed away at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington on Thursday evening, October 6, 2011. She was 81 years old. Betty Ann was born in Portland, Maine, the daughter of the late Clarence and Margaret Munson. She grew up and was educated in Portland. She met her future husband, Lawrence George Moore, who lived in the neighboring town of Farmington. They were married 64 years ago and settled in Burlington to raise their family. Betty Ann was a stay at home mother when her children were growing up. After they were grown, she went to work at Raytheon in Bedford, where she managed their company cafeteria. Betty Ann embraced life, her family, and her friends. She enjoyed square dancing with her friends. She was a longtime member of TOPS in Burlington. She was a member of several bowling leagues. She enjoyed camping which evolved into the purchase of a motor home. She and her husband traveled all over the United States in their motor home, seeing the country, its beauty, and history first hand. The Grand Canyon and extended stays in Florida were some of her favorite destinations. She also traveled with her best friend, Betty Carter. Betty Ann had a strong faith and was an active member of the United Church of Christ Congregational. She served as a Deacon and was always willing to lend her talents and time in all the churches events, activities, and fundraisers. She loved spending the holidays with her family and the Fourth of July was always a big event at the Moore home. It can be said, that Betty Ann lived her life well. She was devoted to her family; she appreciated the friendship of others, and of God’s gifts in life. Betty Ann was the beloved wife of 64 years of Lawrence George Moore. She was a loving and compassionate mother of Dennis & his wife Barbara of Bow, NH, Barbara Nunes of Burlington, Gail Fay & her husband Al of Burlington, and David & his wife Vicki of Chelmsford. She was the sister of Beverly Sams of Portland, ME, Richard Munson of S. Portland, ME, the late Jack Mahoney, Muriel Cogswell, Phyllis Pearce, Doris Gagne, Audrey Nelson, and Robert Munson. She was also survived by 14 Grandchildren, 3 Great Grandchildren, and many dear friends and neighbors. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Wednesday, Oct. 12 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Funeral service at the United Church of Christ Congregational at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. Interment in Pine Haven Cemetery, Burlington.
