Obituary of Chrysanthe Thayer
Chrysanthe (Valacellis) Thayer, formerly of Burlington, but more recently from Salt Lake City, Utah, passed away peacefully at The Ridge in Salt Lake City, Utah on April 5, 2022. She was the beloved wife of Howard A. Thayer, until his death on March 21, 2018.
Chrysanthe was born in Watertown on August 28, 1934, the daughter of the late Cleanthis G. and the late Elpiniki (Stavrides) Valacellis, she attended Watertown and Belmont schools, and graduated from Boston University in 1956.
Chrysanthe worked in the insurance industry upon graduation and then joined forces with her husband at Thayer Fabrics. Chrysanthe managed the books and the office. Chrysanthe was an avid tennis player and loved gardening. She also loved spending time with her friends and family.
Chrysanthe was the sister of the late Alcmene V. Nichols and the late Helen V. Letsou. She is survived by her 5 nieces and nephews: Dr. Thea Calkins of Northampton; Rodanthe Hanrahan & her husband Paul of Easton, MD; Dr. George Letsou & his wife Dr. Jane Carter of Houston, TX; Anthea Letsou & her husband James E. Metherall of Salt Lake City, UT; and Peter V. Letsou & his wife Felicity of Memphis, TN.
A visitation will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., Burlington on Saturday, April 16 from 10:00 – 11:00am. The family requests that anyone attending the visitation please wear a mask, regardless of vacination status.
