Obituary of Elaine M Herbert

Elaine M. (Gay) Herbert passed away Willow Manor Nursing Home in Lowell on Friday morning April 15, 2022.  She was 63 years old.  Elaine was born in Woburn. She was raised and educated in Burlington.  Elaine was the daughter of the late Allan and Evelyn Gay.   

At the age of 16 Elaine moved to Lowell to live with her sister.  She loved the excitement of living in a big city and remained in Lowell where she would raise her family.    Elaine worked at the YMCA in Lowell as a Receptionist. She loved her job.  She would open the building every morning and greet the clients.  With her outgoing personality it was the perfect job for Elaine.  In later years she worked as a Dispatcher at HealthSouth New England Rehabilitation Hospital in Lowell. 

Elaine loved the summer and warm weather.  Nothing brought her more peace and tranquility then spending the day at the beach.  Elaine always took great pride in how she looked and never left home without her make up on even while in the nursing home.  Elaine had a larger-than-life personality, and you always knew where you stood with her. Her sister Cindy, lovingly cared for her during with her many health issues in recent years.

Elaine is the mother of Michael Roeschlaub & his wife Jennifer of NH, James Holmes & his companion Elaine of NH and the late Jason Roeschlaub & his companion Rhonda.  Stepmother of Kristen Coburn.    Sister of James Gay & his wife Theresa of Wilmington, the late Rita Daniels & her husband Jamie of IL, Allan Gay & his wife Angie of FL and Cindy Brunelle & her husband Dennis of Burlington.  Niece of Charlie Dulong. Elaine is also survived by 4 grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.  Visiting hours will be held at the Edward V Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., Burlington on Thursday, April 21 from 4-6:30 p.m. Concluding with funeral services at 6:30 p.m.  Burial will be private.  In lieu of flowers memorials in Elaine’s name may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society, 1488 Middlesex St., Lowell, MA 01851.
