Obituary of Barbara K Goldberg

Barbara K. (Katz) Goldberg passed away at Brightview Assisted Living in Billerica on Saturday evening, April 23, 2022. Barbara was born and raised in Springfield, MA, on April 13, 1929, and had just celebrated her 93rd birthday! She was the beloved wife of the late David Goldberg. She was the daughter of the late Ida and Samuel Katz.  Barbara married David on September 16, 1951. They lived briefly in Buffalo, NY and Washington D. C. before moving to Malden, MA. They raised their two children, Jeffrey and Cheryl, in a house built for them in 1956-57 in Rolling Hills of Peabody MA. In 1974, the summer after her son entered college, Barbara and David relocated to Cherry Hill, New Jersey, where they would live for the next 26 years. Barbara and David had a wonderful life together in Cherry Hill.  They enjoyed ballroom and square dancing, traveled extensively throughout Europe and other wonderful destinations like Israel, Turkey and China.  As her mother Ida required additional care from her nursing home, in the spring of 2000, Barbara and David moved back to Massachusetts to be closer to her mother and family.  After her husband David passed on December 7, 2012, Barbara, still living in her house at Oakpoint of Middleboro, found it difficult to be over an hour away from her children and grandchildren.  She moved to Brooksby Independent Living apartments in October 2013 and eventually to Brightview Assisted Living in September 2019. There, she loved to play bridge and Mahjong.  She also enjoyed a good game of Bingo and was always quite lucky when it came to winning! The Goldberg family celebrated her 90th birthday with a Caribbean family cruise where family members came from as far away as Arizona and England! Barbara will be remembered as a lively, witty and funny, outgoing woman with lots of energy who had a wonderful life

! Barbara was the beloved wife of the late David. She was the loving MOTHER of son Jeffrey Goldberg with his wife Barbara of Burlington MA, and daughter, the late Cheryl Currier with her husband Scott of Melrose MA.  Barbara was the proud GRANDMOTHER of Michael Goldberg, Lisa Goldberg and Joshua Currier. Barbara was SISTER of Lenora Roukas of Sierra Vista AZ and her late brother David Katz of Longmeadow MA. Funeral Services were privat
