Obituary of Marion Blake

Marion Rita Blake, beloved aunt and dear friend, passed away on Tuesday, May 31, 2022. She was 83 years old. Marion was born to Mary and Joseph Pike in Somerville. She grew up in Somerville, MA and graduated from Somerville High School. Marion married James Blake and moved to Milton. Marion and James were huge Celtics fans while living in Milton. They attended many of the Celtics games, were friendly with the Garden staff and players. Her passion permeated through the house, Christmas tree decorations and was epitomized by her “CELTSW” license plate.  She loved watching the games at home, listening to Tommy Heinsohn’s broadcasts.

Marion worked in the insurance industry as an administrative assistant for Aetna, and then for Gulde Insurance in Burlington before retiring. She prided herself on being very independent and was adamant on living at home, where she could enjoy spending time with her neighborhood friends. Marion and Beth, Lorraine and Connie were best friends for decades.  She enjoyed traveling and had a special trip with her niece, Jennifer to Scotland.  There were also trips to Branson Missouri and Nashville, Tennessee.  She had a love for country music and Anne Murray was her favorite artist. She was the “Special Aunt” to all her nieces and nephews.  She was always present at all their special events, and family celebrations, and holidays.  She will be lovingly remembered for her strong independence, kindness, and love she shared with family and friends.

Marion was the beloved wife of the late James Blake.  Sister of the late Joseph H. & Jessie Ann Pike.  Marion was the loving aunt to John Pike of Wilmington, James Pike of Billerica, Jeffrey Pike and his wife Stacey Leavitt of Nashua, NH, Jacqueline Pike of Florida, Joyce Pike of Nashua, NH, Jennifer Pike of Boston, and the late Joseph Pike. She is also survived by many great nieces and nephews, and many dear friends.

The family will be having a private service for Marion on Friday, June 3, 2022. Memorials in Marion’s name may be made to her favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.
