Obituary of Rosemarie Riley

Rose Marie (Lobato) Riley passed away at Masconomet Healthcare in Topsfield on Saturday morning, September 3, 2022. She was 74 years old.

Rose Marie was one of three children born to the late Joseph and Bertha Lobato.  She was born in Alamosa, Colorado and lived in Pueblo during her childhood.  Rose Marie attended boarding school in New Mexico before graduating from high school in Silverton, Colorado. She would meet her future husband Michael Riley, of Woburn, Massachusetts, while he was stationed in Colorado Springs during his tour of duty with the Army.  They married, moved to Massachusetts, and raised their family in Burlington.

Rose Marie worked as a waitress at the Hilton Colonial Inn in Lynnfield and at Jimmy’s at the Burlington Mall.  With her outgoing and social personality, Rose Marie made many friendships with both her customers and co-workers.

Rose Marie was a fun and loving mom.  She enjoyed taking her children on daily adventures to local destinations such as Newport, Rhode Island, Salem, Massachusetts, local beaches, and other interesting places in New England. She also took her children to Colorado to visit her family. Rose Marie loved the ocean, so after her children were grown, she moved to Beverly. She enjoyed living in the North Shore and volunteered at the North Shore Music Theatre and the Beverly Council on Aging.

Rose Marie’s grandchildren were her greatest joy, and she was so proud of them.    She was blessed to have one last family gathering with her children and grandchildren one week before her passing.  It was a wonderful day for the entire family.

Rose Marie was the beloved mother of Tanya Trujillo of Cambridge, Dorene DiNaro and her husband Marco of New Mexico, Shannon Michalczyk and her husband Jason of Lowell, and Bryan Riley and his wife Jennifer of Tyngsboro.   She was the proud grandmother of Alyssa and Alexander Trujillo, Angelo DiNaro, Amy and Ian Michalczyk, and William and Jacob Riley.  She was the sister of Stephen Lobato and Joseph Lobato both of Colorado and former wife of Michael Riley of Billerica.

Visiting hours will be held at the Edward V Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., Burlington on Thursday, Sept. 8 from 4-7pm.  Funeral from the funeral home on Friday, Sept. 9 at 9am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, at St. Veronica Parish, 111 Winn St., Burlington at 10am.  Burial will be private.
