Obituary of Marie A. Woznik
Marie Woznik, wife of Skip Woznik of 62 years, passed away on November 9, 2022. Marie was born to her parents Thomas and Carmella Pedulla in Somerville MA. She grew up in Somerville and graduated from Somerville High School. While growing up in Somerville, she met a boy named Skip on the basketball court in the 7th grade. Skip says that Marie was resilient in trying to date him, and he eventually gave her a shot. Marie and Skip were inseparable after that.
Marie and Skip got married in 1960 at St. Polycarp Church in Somerville. The two built a life together in Woburn since 1967, where they built their home and raised their family. They loved to travel from Europe to California, Bermuda to the Bahamas. After retirement they visited Florida yearly for a few of New England’s cold winter months. A highlight trip was their multi-week trip to Europe, where they went to Marie’s parents’ home, province of Calabria, Italy. Marie took great pride in her Italian heritage. She loved to cook all Italian cuisine, and she did so with love. Marie made sure to pass her love of cooking on to her son Brian. Marie always preached family to both her children. Marie was also an avid Celtics and Red Sox fan and never missed a game on TV.
Marie will be remembered by her family as being a gentle, comforting, caring and nurturing mother. She was always supportive of her children, and loved being their biggest cheerleader at their extra-curricular activities growing up. Marie always hosted holiday meals, and was always so grateful to have everyone together. She truly loved making people happy at her home. The family made many memories together at their pool in Woburn and their Cape House in West Yarmouth, where they spent weekends in the summertime.
Marie was the loving wife of Skip Woznik of Woburn. She was the beloved mother of Brian Woznik and his wife Danielle of Windham, NH, and Kelly and her husband Christopher Chester of Lowell, MA. Marie was the dear Nonnie of Ethan, Mia, and T.J. of Windham, NH. Marie is preceded in death by her three brothers, Peter, Frank and Thomas Pedulla.
