Marcia Diane Ricupero, a woman who gave all of herself to her family, passed away peacefully with her children by her side on Saturday, November 19, 2022. As the daughter of Herbert Lynch and Helena (Gottholm) Lynch-Maxwell, Marcia was born in Everett, MA and grew up in Medford. After graduating from Medford High School, she furthered her education to become a Medical Laboratory Technologist and worked at Brigham and Women’s Hospital for many years. She was the former wife of Peter Ricupero, Sr. with whom she had six children. For over 60 years, Marcia’s home was in Burlington, MA.

Marcia was kind, generous and compassionately cared for others. As a devoted mother raising four daughters and two sons, she created a loving home and made sure her children’s needs always came first. She supported her children in their interests and activities as she was always their biggest fan. Some of her fondest memories were made in Harrison, Maine where the family spent their summer months.

Marcia had a passion for crafting, sewing, needlepoint, knitting and cooking. She shared her talents with her children and grandchildren as she made clothing, christening gowns, baby blankets, hats, mittens, afghans, costumes, and prom dresses. Marcia meticulously hand-stitched thousands of beads and sequins to her wedding gown for her youngest daughter to wear on her own wedding day. She hand-crafted Christmas stockings, tree skirts and ornaments that have become treasured family heirlooms. Marcia learned the generations-old tradition of making homemade Italian gravy from Grammie Ricupero, which she passed on to her children, who in turn, have carried this special tradition on to their own children. Her children teased that, as an Irish woman, Marcia “was the best Italian cook ever.” She always made incredible feasts for holidays and family gatherings.

As a remarkable and strong woman, Marcia passed on an abundance of life experience to her family. She instilled in her children the importance of empathy and compassion for others, and that when you believe in yourself, anything is possible. Marcia encouraged her children to always be kind, work hard, be happy and support one another. She loved her family with her entire being.

Marcia was the loving and devoted mother of Diana Bader & her husband, Michael of Apex, NC, Sheila Dignan & her husband, Charles of Burlington, Peter Ricupero, Jr. of Burlington, Sandra Curley & her husband, Richard of Billerica, Stephanie Hovasse & her husband, Richard of Burlington, and David Ricupero of Burlington. She was the older sister of the late Ronald Lynch, Sr. She was the proud and cherished Grammy of Megan Noreen & her husband, Bradley, Erica Hyman & her husband, Matthew, Scott Bader & his fiancé, Hallie Hartley, Danielle DiBlasi & her husband, Thomas, Jacquelyn DiGiacomo & her husband, Erik, Caitlin Vasta & her husband, Angelo, René Dignan, Arianna and Meredith Curley, Samantha, RJ, Max, and Lily Hovasse, and Michael Ricupero. She was the adoring Great Grammy of Lucas Noreen, Owen Hyman, Calianna and Layna Vasta, Demetri Dignan, and Vera DiGiacomo.
