Joan,
I have such fond memories of you when I was little. I remember when you would take me to Woolworth’s in Central Square to buy me a book and then to Brigham’s for an ice cream. My best time with you was when I was a teenager and you drove Granny, Pa and me up to Canada to visit relatives. I remember sleeping in bed with you there and you took all the covers. And, you’d still do that when I slept with you at Granny’s and Pa’s in Cambridge! I used to call you a “bed hog” under my breath and you would hear me and push me with those big feet of yours. There are so many wonderful memories that I will cherish. I will surely miss the talks and laughs that we had. Say hello to everyone up there for me. I can hear you asking now, “how do you know I’m up here”? Well, Joanie, where else would you be?
Love, Janet and Mike

I came to know Joanie through her amazing daughter Lisa. They were both cut from the same mold: honest, loyal and very understanding of what is truly important in life. Joanie will be missed by all who knew her.

I could write about a lifetime of happy memories from Cambridge to Wareham to Burlington but it would all boil down to my love for Joan’s good humor, her strength, her fearless spirit, her unfiltered straight talk, her genuine kindness, for the laughs and for all our heart to heart chats that I’ll miss so much. She was a tough nut with a soft, gooey center. And I loved her.
Whatever path my life takes, you will always be in my heart. Until we see each other again, I will miss you, “Ducky”.

Joan,
My siblings, my mom and I have so many wonderful memories of our times spent with you. Beach days in Wareham and your annual weekend of babysitting (with "Sarge" - our Aunt Kitty) come to mind first. You had the best belly laughs and made life fun. We were so lucky to have you in our lives, and appreciate how special you were to our mom - her other sister. Last and not least - thanks for being the best godmother.

Joan you were always so warm and welcoming to me and my children. They will always remember how you spoiled them at Halloween with giant candy bars. You had a big heart and I know you and George are reunited.
