Obituary of Katharine Connolly

Katharine J. (Curry) Connolly, a retired employee of the United States Post Office passed away after a brief illness on Wednesday, March 27, 2013. She was 74 years old Katharine was born in Milford, Massachusetts, the daughter of the late Thomas and Anna Curry. She grew up in Stoughton and was a graduate of Stoughton High School. She had worked for 20 years as a sorter and secretary at the U.S. Post Office in Wakefield and Woburn. She had made her home in Burlington from 1977 to 1999. She enjoyed knitting and playing cards, especially Whist. She loved her cats and dog, Harvey. She was an avid reader with Mary Higgins Clark and Patricia Cornwell being her favorite authors. She was a huge Celtics fan and was fortunate to have met her favorite Celtic, Larry Bird. She was a long time parishioner of St. Malachy’s Church. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Katharine was the beloved wife of the late Thomas R. Connolly, who passed away in 1997. She was the loving mother of Ann Marie Oliveira & her husband Guy of Lowell, Kathleen Connolly of Lowell, and the late Thomas R. Connolly, Jr. and his wife Rebecca Connolly of Stanley, VA. She was a second mother to her daughters’ childhood friends Nicole and Jacki Ferola. . She was the sister of Jane Temples and her husband John of Midland, GA and the late Thomas Curry, Jr. She was the proud grandmother of Christina Maywald and her husband Jake, Michael Connolly, Philip, Brianna, Christian Oliveira and John & Emma Nowell and great grandmother of Easton Maywald. She also leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews, and friends whom she treasured. A visitation will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., Burlington on Monday, April 1 from Noon to 1 p.m. and will conclude with a funeral service at the funeral home at 1 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. The interment will be private.
