Obituary of Angela Keating

Angela M. (Carmody) Keating, a woman who devoted her life to her family and her faith, passed away at her home, surrounded by her family, on Sunday afternoon, October 9, 2011. The beloved wife of the late Timothy Keating, she was 80 years old. Angela was born in Rathmore in Country Kerry Ireland. She was one of eight children born to the late Thomas and Nora Carmody. She lived in Ireland until she was 18 years old when she came over by boat to America to live with her aunt and uncle. Like many Irish Immigrants Angela worked as a housekeeper until she met and married her husband Timothy. After their marriage Angela and Timothy lived in Arlington from 1959 until 1974. In 1974 they moved to Woburn. Angela devoted her life to raising her 8 children. Angela also shared her compassion in her work life caring for young children and elderly adults since the 1980’s. Angela was a woman of deep faith. She was a daily communicant for 19 years at St. Joseph Church in Woburn until the church recently closed. She then started to attend church at St. Margaret’s in Burlington. Angela loved to knit and she knitted thousands of “Caps for Kids” at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. One year alone she had made over 500 caps. Angela had just stopped knitting in recent weeks. Angela was proud of her Irish Heritage and had taken many trips back to Ireland. One special trip was in 2006 she went to Ireland with all of her 8 children and two of her daughter-in-laws. The Keating family had a summer home on White Horse Beach in Manomet where they enjoyed many special times as a family. Angela enjoyed gardening. Angela was a spirited, loving and hands’-on woman. She wasn’t afraid to tackle any project whether it was painting a room in the house, working in the garden of her home or even painting a family car with a hand brush if she did not approve of the color. She adored her grandchildren and she was fortunate to be a part of all of their lives as they were growing up. She was eagerly awaiting the birth of her first great grandchildren. Angela was the beloved wife of the late Timothy Keating. Loving mother of Mary “Terri” O’Neill of Woburn & her late husband Dennis, Michael Keating & his wife Charlene of Arlington, Thomas Keating & his wife Regina of Nashua, NH, Timothy “Ted” Keating & his wife Karen of Woburn, John Keating & Jennifer of Billerica, Kevin Keating of Woburn, Joanne Malloy & her husband Shawn of Billerica and Diane Keating of Woburn. Sister of Sister Lupeta of England and the late Margaret “Peggy”, Thomas “Sonny”, Sean, Padraig “Paddy”, Mary Francis, and Noreen. Also survived by 12 grandchildren. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Friday, Oct. 14 at 11 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington at 12 Noon. Visiting hours Thursday 4-8 p.m. Interment in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn. .
