Obituary of Brian Roger Perreault

Brian Roger Perreault, Associate Director of IT Project Management at Merck KGaA/ EMD Millipore, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, January 24, 2023.  He was 49 years old.  Brian grew up and was educated in Dracut.  He enlisted in the Army in October of 1994 and was discharged in September of 2003.  He served in Company C, 3rd Battalion, and the 66th Armor Battalion as an armor crewman.  Throughout his active full-time enlistment and his National Guard service, he  served in multiple units including: the 2nd Armor Division, 4th Infantry Division, 121st Infantry LRSC, 19th Special Forces Group (Airborne), the 173rd Infantry LRSD and the 642nd Military Intelligence Battalion.  He was the recipient of the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal and an Army Service Ribbon. 

In support of his fellow Veterans, he was a volunteer for Clear Path for Veterans, New England for many years. He used his love of music and guitar experience to create and lead Frets & Vets at Ft. Devens.  It was a monthly drop-in group for Veterans who enjoyed listening to and playing music.  Brian strongly believed in the healing powers of music and wanted to help share the joy music brought him with others. 

Brian had a very successful career with Millipore and Merck spanning over 25 years.   He started as a Marketing Administrator in the Bioscience Division of Tech Service at Millipore in 1998.  He continued to advance in the company holding positions of Supervisor for IT Technical Support, Analyst/ Administrator for Business Intelligence Systems, Sr. IT Business Partner, Regional Head - West Coast IT Operations, Associate Director andSales & Marketing Excellence.  When Millipore was purchased by Merck, Brian’s opportunities only increased.  He was the Global Learning & Development Manager, Sr. Manager, IT Project & Performance, and was currently the Associate Director for IT Product Management where he oversaw enterprise-wide IT product portfolio.  He was constantly improving his knowledge and education by taking a bachelor’s program from Northeastern, certificate and development programs at The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, Cornell University, Harvard Law School, and MIT Sloan School of Management.  He was well respected in his field for his analytics, problem solving mindset, and management skills.  The best part of his current job was that he could do much of his work at home, despite his center of operations being in Germany, so he could be with his family, see his boys off to the bus stop in the morning and be waiting for them in the afternoon. 

Brian was a competitive athlete.  He has competed as a triathlete for the last 7 years.  He raced locally and around the country.  He particularly enjoyed the Army West Point Triathlon.  Brian achieved his goal of completing an Ironman 70.3 in 2019. He loved keeping his workout routine just as much as he loved competing in the races.  He also earned 3 Boston Marathon Finisher medals for the Tough Ruck 26.2- Fueled by the Boston Marathon, raising money to support first responders and his fellow Veterans.

Brian’s life was all about his family, especially his sons.  He married his wife Amy in 2009.  They made their home in San Diego for 5 years before returning to Massachusetts and settling in Lunenburg 10 years ago.  He was deeply involved in his boys’ life.  He was there for them every day taking them to their activities and sporting events.  He was so proud to see Jack and Connor compete in wrestling.  He was their biggest fan.  He loved sharing his love of snowboarding and music with the boys as well.  Brian loved to travel and shared his love of travel with his children.  He taught them to take advantage of all the adventures life has to offer.   Summers were spent on the shores of Lake Winnipesaukee.  They were members of Akwa Marina Yacht Club where they enjoyed spending time at the pool or boating on the lake.  He was a fun and caring brother, son-in-law, brother-in-law, and uncle to all his extended family.  Brian’s sudden passing leaves his family with broken hearts and much sadness.    Brian will be forever missed, but never forgotten. Hopefully, as time passes, his memory will not be accompanied by tears, but rather smiles.

Brian was the beloved husband of Amy (GaNung) Perreault for over thirteen years.  He was the proud and loving father of Jack and Connor Perreault.  He was the son of Jill Sanders and her husband Russell Sanders of Melbourne, FL.  He was the brother of Kris Loranger & his partner Kat Pintal of Dracut and Jason Loranger of Florida.  He was the son-in-law of Janice and Mel Eaton of Laconia and Robert GaNung of California.  He was the brother-in-law of Michelle and Thomas Browne of Burlington, Patrice and Paul Brennan of Billerica, and Michael and Casey GaNung of Windham, Maine.  He was a special uncle of Ryder Loranger, Katelyn, Megan, & Jillian Browne, Tiffany & Stephen Brennan, and Izabel GaNung. 

Visiting hours will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral home, 43 Winn Street, Burlington on Monday, January 30 from 4-7pm. Funeral from the Sullivan Funeral home on Tuesday January 31 at 11am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Margaret Church in St. Veronica Parish, www.stveronicama.org, 111 Winn St., Burlington at 12pm. Services will conclude with burial in Pine Have Cemetery, Burlington.
