Margaret E. (Peg)  Breen , of Burlington, formally of Watertown, passed away on February 2, 2023 at the age of 99. Margaret was born in Cambridge to her parents Edward and Helen Lyons. She was raised in Somerville, and graduated from Somerville High School. Peg married her husband Robert J. (Bud) Breen III in 1947. Peg and Bud raised two wonderful children, Robert IV and Suzanne.

Peg took great pride in her household. She was involved with the kids’ classrooms and activities at the Browne School in Watertown. Peg lost her husband at the young age of 49. She served as the financial administrator for the Watertown Housing Authority, working to provide affordable, safe and sanitary housing for the town.

On top of work, Peg loved to knit and sew. She took pride in her skills and was able to make clothes for her kids, and also, made her daughter-in-law’s wedding dress. She was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians Auxiliary, Division 14 of Watertown. Peg had many friends from both Burlington and Watertown. They loved to play bingo at the council on aging and at numerous other halls.  Peg was an avid Red Sox fan which started when she was a child with her father.

Peg will be remembered for her kind heart and open door policy. Everyone was welcome at Peg’s house. She always greeted friends and family with a big smile. She was an incredible mother, a beloved grandmother, and a caring great-grandmother to her family.

Margaret was the beloved wife of the late Robert J. Breen III. She was the dear mother of Robert J. Breen IV and his wife Cheryl of Woburn, and Suzanne McCarthy and her husband Harry of Burlington. Margaret was the loving grandmother of Katelyn Breen, Robert J. Breen V, Heather Stanley and her husband Steven, and Michael McCarthy.
