Obituary of Yolanda S Stubbs
Yolanda “Londie” Stubbs, a resident of Burlington for 56 years passed peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Saturday, June 10, 2023. She was 88 years old. Londie was one of three children born to Italian immigrants, Gaetano and Josephine Zaccari. She grew up in a small town called Highwood which was in the suburbs outside of Chicago. She graduated from Highland Park High School. She met a soldier, Max Stubbs, at a USO dance. They married and quickly started a family. After four years and 3 children, they moved to Burlington for a job opportunity for Max. Moving from Chicago meant they had no family in the area, so her neighbors and friends became a second family. They were all about the same age, all with children, and supported each other as if they were family. They celebrated holidays, barbecues, dinner parties, and countless other activities, with the 4th of July Rocky Hill Shindig amongst the most memorable. Her ziti and sauce were always a hit at the events. They went on trips to Maine and to Mexico. Londie made it a point that every summer she would return to Chicago to visit family and friends. She had a quick wit that always included a bit of sarcasm. No one was safe when her one liners started flying. The last 9 years were challenging times for Londie with numerous health issues, but her children were always there to help her along and make sure she could remain home.
Londie was the beloved wife of the late Max E. Stubbs. She was the mother of Kathy DelGrosso & her husband Fred of Burlington, Michael Stubbs & his partner Robin Potter of Westford, Richard Stubbs & his wife Gina of Atlanta, GA, and Kelly Stubbs of Burlington. Sister of the late Jenny Romitti and Albert Zaccari. Grandmother of Katrina Jeffries, Kara Marie DelGrosso, Mike, Tyler, Jessica, Mark, Michelle, and Michaela Stubbs.
Visiting hours will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., Burlington, on Friday, July 21 from 11am - 12:30pm. A funeral service will begin at the funeral home at 12:30pm. Services will conclude with a burial in Pine Haven Cemetery, Burlington.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Londie’s name may be made to Beth Israel Lahey Hospice, 800 West Cummings Park, Suite 5000, Woburn, MA 01801.
