My condolences go out to the family. Rachel was an amazing person which I had the privilege to work with and especially call a friend.

I knew Rachel a brief time while she was in Austin, TX. She was such a beautiful person! Her dry wit and honesty was unarming. Rachel is missed.

I met Rachel through my best friend Kaity. For years, I had the pleasure of seeing them grow together. I’ve never seen a couple compliment each other so well. The amount of care and love they put into their union was unmatched.
My favorite memories include seeing how happy they were on their wedding day, both of them rushing to my aid when I had a horrible day and stuffing our faces with pizza (gluten free of course!), driving all the way to Maine just to eat empanadas in our Halloween costumes, watching ‘Scream’ for my very first time with Rachel’s hilarious commentary, solving Rubik’s cubes together, listening to late 90s-early 00s punk rock in the car, and having conversations about the mundaneness of life.
Rachel was always willing to share her wisdom which I cherished. Our talks of God, adulthood, and queerness will stay with me forever. I will miss her warm hugs, the side grin she made when she told a clever joke, the way her eyes lit up when Kaity said/did something sweet, and how incredibly sincere and selfless she was. Rachel fought until the very end and my goodness did she fight. I know in my heart her spirit is alive. To the Misner & Gurman family, you are in my thoughts and prayers.
I love you, Rachel. May you rest in the sweetest peace, my friend ❤️

This may be sort of stream of consciousness, I apologize! I always loved Rachel and she was such an instant and strong friend to me during a time when life was exciting yet scary as a young adult in Boston. I found the connection with her that I sorely needed in a friend. We met around 2003/2004 and spent so much time together for years. We spent several New Years Eves together which was always so wonderful. She helped bring out my sassy side and together I think we were pretty funny. I remember encouraging her and accompanying her to meet with people at New England Art Institute before she decided to go when she was feeling extra nervous. She really flourished at that school and I’m so glad she went. I was always sad that her old cat Clarissa Bean despised me (and most everyone who wasn’t Rachel) because she was just the cutest and I just wanted to put my face in her fur. Ugh, this is just so sad. We didn’t talk much for several years due to life becoming busy and living in different states but I kept tabs on her and we reconnected over the pandemic, which I am so grateful for. We’ve had some lovely discussions over the pat few years and I am so impressed to hear her thoughts on dying. She said she was not afraid and seemed at peace. I love Rachel Misner always. She was always a good friend to me, even when we were mere pups. She was honest, funny, smart, quick-witted, dependable, so very sweet and kind, cuter than any button, and so much more. Thank you for letting me be your friend over the years. Here is an old photo of us circa 2005. I am really sorry for all who love her and my heart truly goes out to you.

Rachel and I met in college in 2004, I had just arrived from Tijuana Mexico and was getting used to living not only in Boston, but in the US for the first time on my own. I was shy and as she would say a bit of a snoby know it all, but she opened her heart, her home and invited me to be a part of her life. My time spent with her recording bands for school projects, talking nonsense on our late night radio show 'The B-side' and laughing at all the silly things we did everyday will always be the best memories I will cherish from my early 20s. She'll always be my best friend and I will always be grateful to her for making my college experience the most fun and memorable I could've asked for. I won't miss her because she will forever live in my heart. I love you Rache!! You and I will forever be on a Mexican Radio.
