Obituary of Robert F. Brazil
Robert F. Brazil, an Army veteran and retired letter carrier for the US postal service, passed away at home on Friday, July 28, 2023 at the age of 75.
Bob was born in Boston, the son of the late Bernard Brazil and Mary (Maloney) Brazil, where he grew up one of 15 children. He attended school in East Boston and enlisted in the Army after graduating. After his military service, Bob joined the post office as a letter carrier, where he worked for 30 years. Bob married his wife, Anne, in 1988 and they were married for 35 years.
Bob enjoyed going to the casino and playing cards, especially Blackjack and Let It Ride. He also enjoyed golfing with friends from the post office, where he participated in two golf leagues. His close friends and co-workers commonly referred to him as ‘Papa’. Family was very important to Bob. He was a wonderful father and grandfather, and loved his family very much.
Bob was the loving husband of Anne (Torpey) Brazil of Burlington. He was the beloved father of Tracy Dalton & her husband Anthony of Groveland, Robert Brazil and his husband Laurent Novis of Paris, France, Richard Gentile of Reading, Dory Vitiello and her husband Thomas of Saugus, Kathleen “Katie” Mullett and her husband Jeremy of Dracut, and William “Billy Boy” Brazil and his partner Beth Law of Burlington. Bob was the proud grandfather of Anthony, Roberta, Emma and Hannah Dalton, Alyssa Gentile, Thomas and Josephine Vitiello, and Mason Mullett. He was the dear brother of Catherine Lowney, Brian Brazil, Ellen Powers, Theresa Brazil, Thomas Brazil, John Brazil, Donna Rogers, and his late siblings Ann Marie Brazil, Bernard Brazil, Barry Brazil, Gerald Brazil, Mary “Patty” Lennon, Dorothy Wilkie, and Regina “Jeannie” Panzini. Bob is also survived by many much loved nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.
A visitation for Bob will be held on Thursday, August 3, from 4 to 7pm at the Edward V. Sullivan funeral Home, 43 Winn Street, Burlington, MA. A funeral Mass for Bob will be held on Friday, August 4, at 10am at St. Margaret’s Church, St. Veronica’s parish, 111 Winn Street, Burlington, MA. Family and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home at 9am before the memorial Mass. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, 175 Broadway, Malden, MA following the funeral mass.
