On behalf of the Metro Fire/Arson Investigators Association’s Officers, Board, and Membership, we extend our deepest condolences to the O’Callahan Family on John’s passing. I had the privilege of knowing & working with John, even though I was with a different department. He was one of the founders & charter members of Metro. Most of all he was a friend and mentor to me. Below is a picture from 1999 at one of our meetings in Somerville, you may recognize a face or two.
May his life not be forgotten & his legacy live forever. St Florian was over him. Rest In Peace My Brother.
God Bless

John was not only a great family man, but an outstanding
Firefighter, and arson investagator. John and I grew up together at Linclon Park in Somerville where there was a pretty tough crowd but John could handle it. The Marines came calling and John with a bunch of guys joined up. After He got discharged We all try to figure out what to do. The Fire Dept. looked like the best option so after a while We got on, John and I spent the next 40 years on the job. John became one of the best if not the best arson inspectors in the state. Semper Fi Marine till we meet again Mark Wall.

My dear Uncle Johnny. Not only were you a husband, father, and a grandfather, you were a brother, brother-in-law, and an uncle. Not to mention, you were also my loving Godfather. Mom would always talk about how much you looked like Grandpa and how proud Nana was of “her two Marines,” you and Uncle Richard. Mom was also incredibly proud of you both. She told me stories of how she would receive compliments about how well-dressed, clean cut, and handsome you and Uncle Ricky were. One time she was asked, “Are those two Marines your brothers?” She said, “You bet they are!” To this day, relatives and neighborhood friends you and Mom grew up with still tell me how much I resemble you (and you and I were both left-handed to boot, just like Grandpa) which I will forever take as a compliment. Thank you for always showing up for me when I needed you. Dad, Brian, Julianne and I will miss you, your love, your stories, and your humor.
With so much love and respect,
Your niece and Goddaughter,
Kimmy
