Obituary of Concetta DeLuca
Concetta “Connie” DeLuca, late owner of Vincent’s Hairstyling Studio passed away after a lengthy illness at the Winchester Nursing Center on Tuesday afternoon, May 7, 2013. She was 92 years old.
Connie was born in Cold Spring New York, the daughter of Italian immigrants, the late Antonio & Carmella Giachinta. Her family moved to Everett when she was 6 years old. She also spent a year living in Italy when she was a child. She married Vincent DeLuca in 1943 and they started their family together in Everett. In 1961, Vincent and Connie made a huge change in their live’s, they moved to Burlington and opened their own hair salon, Vincent’s Hairstyling Studio. She started as the manicurist and eventually went on to become a hairdresser alongside her husband. The salon had hometown flair to it. They have had loyal clients for over 50 years. Sometimes it was more of the social spot in town, especially on Thursday nights. Vincent’s still continues to serve the residents of Burlington and the surrounding towns under the ownership of her daughter, Louise
Connie was the ultimate mother. She could juggle a family business, a home, and 6 children, and without a hair out of place. She was a fantastic cook and family dinners and especially Sunday dinners were a very important event at the DeLuca’s. She even put more care into creating the perfect holiday celebrations. Connie’s love and concern for her family was unceasing. Everything she “whipped up” had to be homemade and fresh, so Connie would spend all day preparing her culinary creations. Outside the home, Connie was a member of several bowling leagues and enjoyed going to Bingo and Foxwoods with her girlfriends. She was also very active in the Burlington Council on Aging. She enjoyed vacationing at the family cottage at Wingaersheek Beach, Gloucester. In her later years, her family took on the role of caretaker and lovingly cared and watched over Connie’s just as she had done for them over her life time.
Connie was the beloved wife of the late Vincent A. DeLuca. She was the loving mother of Donna Ryan of Franklin, NH & her companion Roger LeBlanc, Debra Lewicki & her husband Michael of Boxford, Louise Crocker & her husband Michael of Burlington, Doreen Boyd & her husband Arthur of Bedford, Vincent DeLuca of Billerica & Richard DeLuca of Bedford and mother-in-law of the late Paul Ryan. She was the sister of Millie Salemi of Stoughton, Anthony Giachinta of Revere, the late Ignazio “Tom” Giachinta, Mary Lalichata, and Bernadette Barbaro. She was the sister-in-law of Lena DeLuca of the N. End, Emma Freni of Revere, and the late Marie Bailey. She was also survived by 18 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
