Obituary of Ruth R. Regan

Ruth Regan, a resident of Burlington for 57 years passed after an extended illness on Sunday August 20, 2023.  She was 93 years old.  Ruth was born in Boston.  She was one of four children born to Albert and Regina Ardolino.  She grew up in Medford and was a graduate of Medford High School where she raised her four children.  When the Burlington Mall opened, she went to work at Jordan Marsh which later became Macy’s. Over the years, she worked in a wide variety of departments, but most enjoyed working in the Women’s Apparel department.  She had a great sense for fashion and was always on the hunt for great bargains.  Her husband John would tease her that she worked for free, because she bought so much, but that was far from the truth.  She retired after over 20 years with the stores combined.  She and John tried living in Vero Beach, FL for 8 years after they retired.  She loved escaping New England’s harsh winter, trying new activities, and the many new friends.  They also loved to travel.  The visited Canada, Hawaii, Aruba, Bermuda, and numerous other warm weather destinations.

Ruth’s greatest joy was her family.  She would do anything for her children and grandchildren, and she loved it when her home was filled with family and friends during holidays, family celebrations, or summer cookouts around her pool.  Everyone will remember her kind and welcoming personality, spontaneity, and devotion to her family and friends.

Ruth was the beloved wife of the late John G. Regan who passed in 2015. She was the loving mother of Joan Cavalier & her husband Steve of Burlington, John Regan, Jr., & his wife Susan of Vero Beach, FL, the late Mark Regan and Thomas Regan.  She was the mother-in-law of Denise Regan of Derry, NH. She was predeceased by her siblings, Albert Ardolino, Ernest Ardolino, and Regina Newell.  She was the proud grandmother of Kelly Walker & her husband Mark, Ryan Regan, Brendan Cavalier & his wife Emily, Lauren Cavalier, Mark Regan, Jr., Jordan Regan, Taylor Regan, and late Kaitlyn Regan and great grandmother of Christopher, Madeline, Henry, Rowan, and Genevieve.

Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., Burlington on Thursday at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Margaret Church in St. Veronica Parish, www.stveronicama.org, Burlington. A burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford.
