Obituary of Jean M Glejzer

Jean M. Glejzer, A loving mother, daughter and partner passed after a long battle with Huntington Disease on Monday, August 21, 2023, with "Over the Rainbow" playing in the background.  Born in Woburn, she spread her loving attitude everywhere she went for the next 65 years.  She was one of six children born to Roger and Alice Rodrigues. She had a wonderful childhood growing up on Douglas Ave in Burlington. She was a 1976 graduate of Burlington High School.  She worked for Raytheon Corporation for 30 years until her illness forced her to retire.  While there, she worked at Raytheon’s Billerica, Bedford, and Tewksbury offices before retiring in 2013. She loved her work and those she worked with, enjoyed helping employees to manage their overseas travel.

Jean always kept her ties to Burlington. She raised her two sons in Burlington until they were in high School and then moved to Billerica. She had been living in Lowell for the past 25 years. She was a long-time volunteer at the Edith Nourse Memorial Veterans Hospital in Bedford. Her bubbly personality, unending patience, warmth, and kindness always brightened the days of the Veterans living at the facility. Newfound Lake in New Hampshire was Jean’s happy place. She looked forward to the family’s annual vacation there all year long. She also enjoyed summer days spent at Old Orchard Beach in Maine. The long slow effects of Huntington Disease have slowly robbed Jean of her physical and cognitive abilities over the years. She always wanted to remain independent, make her own decisions about her health care and life, and not be a burden on her family. Her family will remember Jean as the fun filled woman who loved to sing, dance, have fun, laugh, and love.

Jean was the loving companion of 30 years of Ben Cooper of Lowell. She is and always will be the loving mother of Robert Glejzer of Goffstown, NH and Michael Glejzer & his wife Nicole of Chester, NH. She is and always will be a loving and doting Nana to Addyson and Nolan Glejzer of Goffstown NH, and Grayson and Weston Glejzer of Chester, NH.  She is and always will be the devoted daughter of Alice Rodrigues of Burlington and the late Roger Rodrigues. She is and always will be the sister of Patti Sawyer of Billerica, Brian Rodrigues of Dracut, Kevin Rodrigues of Burlington, Karen Quinlan of Nashua, and the late David Rodrigues. She was also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visiting hours will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., Burlington on Thursday, August 24 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. A funeral service will begin at the funeral home at 6:30pm.  There will be a celebration of Jean's life at the American Legion, 162 Winn Street, Burlington from 7-11pm.
