Margaret “Peggy” C. (Collins) Long, passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 9, 2013 at Sunrise in Burlington. Margaret was born on September 22, 1923 in Cambridge. She was the daughter of the late Martin J. and Agatha (Moran) Collins. Margaret was born, raised and educated in Cambridge and graduated from Cambridge High and Latin School in 1942. She went on to attend secretarial school. She was married in 1950 and lived in Woburn for 35 years. Margaret worked as a receptionist for Chadwick-Miller, Inc. for six years and retired from McCord Winn in 1988. She loved arts and crafts especially flower arranging, knitting and ceramics. She was very active with the Girl Scouts and during the 1960’s was the coordinator for the Brownies at St. Barbara’s Church. Margaret and her husband Merritt moved to Cape Coral, Florida after retirement and spent many happy years traveling, dining and playing cards with friends and going on cruises. Peggy and Merritt had many wonderful friends in Florida and often said it was the best years of their life. Margaret was the beloved wife of 55 years of the late Merritt Davis Long. She was the devoted mother of Gail Consolazio & her husband Michael of Winchester. Loving sister of Helen Ainslie of Danvers and the late John T. and Donald E. Collins and Elizabeth Martin. Proud grandmother of Marisa, Michelle & Michael Consolazio. Also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Tuesday, May 14 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Barbara Church, 138 Cambridge Road, Woburn at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Monday 5-8 p.m. Interment in Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield.
