Obituary of James Francis Coveno

James Francis Coveno, a retired 40-year employee of New England Telephone/Verizon passed away peacefully with his family at his bedside on Thursday, September 7, 2023.  He was 82 years old.  Jim was born in Boston, the son of Ralph and Angelina Coveno.  His family lived in Watertown and Belmont before settling in Arlington where he met his future wife, Patricia. After enlisting and serving 3 years in the Army, one of which stationed in Korea, Jim returned to Arlington where he and Pat were married on August 8th, 1964. They lived and raised their 4 boys there through 2004. Jim enjoyed his retirement years living in Burlington. His time was spent showcasing his carpentry skills working on his home and the homes of many friends and relatives. An avid golfer, he spent his final years working at Pine Meadows Golf Course in Lexington, serving in the clubhouse and as the starter. He was a member of the Touchdown Club in Arlington, Sandy Burr Country Club in Wayland and Royal Wood Country Club in Naples, Florida.

Jim was the beloved husband of Patricia (Mahoney) Coveno of Woburn, formerly of Arlington and Burlington.  He was the proud father and father-in-law of Michael Coveno & his wife Libby of Charlestown, formerly of Burlington; James Coveno, Jr. & his wife Tracy of Harwich Port, formerly of Westford; Robert Coveno & his wife Gayle of Woburn, and Joseph Coveno & his wife Molly of Marshfield.  He was the brother of Patricia Sturdevant & her husband Les of Burlington, the late Ralph Coveno & his surviving wife Sandra of Burlington, and the late Rosemarie Ceurvels & her surviving husband James of Woburn.  He was the proud “Pa” to Danielle, Kathleen, Caroline, Olivia, Sophia, Paige, Danny, Matthew, Brian, and Bennett Coveno.  He was the brother-in-law of Jean Cullen, Kathy Hirsch, the late Maryellen & Robert Tisdale, Larry Cullen, and Vince Hirsch.  He was also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visiting hours will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., Burlington on Monday, September 11 from 4 to 7pm. Funeral from the Sullivan Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 12 at 9am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Margaret Church in St. Veronica Parish, 111 Winn St., Burlington at 10am. Services will conclude with a burial at Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Burlington.
