Obituary of Rita DiDonna

Rita DiDonna, a loving mother, and caring wife, passed away on October 4, 2023, at the age of 79. Rita was born in Torre Del Greco, Naples Italy where she grew up. Rita was the lone female in her family of 6. She moved from Italy to the USA in 1965 for a year settling in Quincy, MA. In 1966, she moved back to Torre Del Greco, where she married her husband, Roberto DiDonna. The two together, moved back to the USA, where they made their final home in Burlington, MA where they lived and raised their own family of five children.

Rita proudly managed the household in Burlington while Roberto worked. She enjoyed planting flowers and making dishes that she learned how to cook back in Italy. She did her best to find quality ingredients in the area and make traditional meals that would remind her of home. Sunday dinners were a family tradition, and Rita would make a Sunday sauce served with pasta and meatballs.  Before Roberto passed in 2006 the two loved to travel, especially on cruises. Rita spent most of her time talking and reminiscing about the old times with her close friends on the phone whenever she could. She was talented with needlework and knitted, often making blankets for her kids and grandkids. 

Rita was the beloved wife of the late Roberto DiDonna. She was the loving mother to Raymond DiDonna, Woburn, Leonilda Sousa, and husband John Jr. Sousa of Woburn, Maurizio DiDonna of Billerica, Vincenzo DiDonna and Wife Maria DiDonna of Lynn, and Massimo DiDonna and late wife a Robyn DiDonna of Manchester, NH. She was the proud grandmother to Nicholas DiDonna, Matthew DiDonna, Isabel DiDonna, and Roberto DiDonna. Rita was the caring sister to Joseph Miele, Michael Miele, Mario Miele, and her late siblings, Aniello Miele and Luigi Miele. 

A visitation for Rita will be held on Wednesday, October 11, from 9 to 11 AM at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn Street, Burlington, MA 01803. Funeral services will start at 11 AM at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home. Burial at Pine Haven Cemetery, 84 Bedford Street, Burlington, MA 01803 to follow.
