Ann M. (Hardman) Theberge, 76, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Wednesday, October 4, 2023.
Ann was born in New Bedford, MA on October 13, 1946 and was the daughter of the late Walter and Winifred (Moran) Hardman. She graduated from New Bedford High School; married in 1966 and moved to Savannah, GA with her husband who was stationed there. After returning to Massachusetts, they eventually settled in Norfolk, where they raised a family and made lifelong friends. Countless memories and lasting friendships were also made during annual vacations at Myles Standish State Forest Campground in Plymouth.
Ann took pride in creating a warm and loving home for her family. She enjoyed the simple pleasures in life like cooking, baking and entertaining. Ann was happiest when in the company of friends and family, sharing laughter and lighthearted moments. Whether she was hosting her annual Christmas Eve open house or a casual Saturday night gathering for her children and their friends, Ann’s warmth and hospitality made everyone feel welcome, comfortable and loved.
Ann worked part-time while her children were young and eventually returned to work full-time in the early 80’s at Norfolk Credit Union. In the late 90’s, she accepted a position at Plymouth County Teachers Federal Credit Union in Wareham where she worked for 21 years until she retired from her role as Chief Financial Officer in 2013. Ann continued to provide reliable insight while serving on the Board of Directors for PCTFCU after her retirement. Working in the banking industry came naturally to Ann due to her ability to easily connect with people from all walks of life. Traveling across the country to attend conferences with all of her “Credit Union friends” was something she looked forward to and thoroughly enjoyed over the years, as well.
Following her retirement, Ann moved to Onset to be closer to her siblings. In this new chapter of her life, she cultivated another circle of wonderful friends and gathered with them often at Bailey’s Restaurant, where she enjoyed watching her beloved Red Sox and Patriots.
Ann's life was a beautiful testament to the deep love she held for her family. Her children and grandchildren were her greatest pride and joy, and her heart was most content when she was in their presence. Ann's affection for them had no bounds, and she showered her grandchildren with endless love and kindness, ensuring that each one felt cherished and adored by their Grammy. Ann took pleasure in watching her grandsons pursue their passions whether it was playing sports or playing with LEGOs, and she was elated to share her birthday with her granddaughter; a special bond for both of them.
Ann was the former wife of George Theberge, Jr. of Brewster, and was predeceased by their son, George Theberge III who passed away at the tender age of 3. She was the loving mother of Bridget Jay and her husband Jonathan of Burlington, Gregory Theberge and his wife Kate of Harrisburg, PA; sister to Dana Hardman and his wife Christine of Fairhaven, MA, Ted Hardman and his wife Glenna of New Bedford, MA, and Beth LaPerriere and her husband Luke of Wareham, MA. Ann was the loving grandmother to Jack Jay, Jonathan Jay, Elin Theberge and George Theberge; and best friend to Lola, her beloved dog and loyal companion of 19 years.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation and funeral service for Ann on Monday, October 9th at Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home (43 Winn St. Burlington, MA). Visitation will be held from 4-6pm, immediately followed by a service at 6pm. Burial will be private.
