My father and Joan were HUGE football fans. Before the Patriots came into the league, Joan's team of choice was N.Y. Giants and her favorite player was the quarterback Y.A. Tittle. My father would call Joan during the game and ask her if she had her rosary beads out and was praying for Y.A. because he was usually getting clobbered on the field. They would both enjoy a good laugh but Joan would have her rosary beads out and was praying for Y.A.
My father and Joan had a special connection. Being Irish in an Italian family presented a few challengesfor my father especially when everyone was speaking Italian. Joan would kick my father under the table and the would have a "secret" laugh while everyone was preoccupied in their conversation. They were the jokesters in the family. Always enjoying a laugh together and sometimes at the expense of another family member.
Joan was such an influence on everyone that I took her name as my Confirmation name.
Rest in Peace Joan. I know you are with God and probably discussing ways to help the Patriots this year!
Love Always,
Elaine
