Obituary of Edith Christine Drolette

Edith "Edie" Christine (MacDonald) Drolette, age 78, of Burlington, died at her home surrounded by her family, on Thursday, October 19, 2023.

Edie was born in Somerville, the daughter of the late Edith (Forni) MacDonald & Roderick MacDonald, Sr.  She graduated from Burlington High School, Class of 1963, and married James F. Drolette in 1965.  Edie and Jim made their home and raised their sons in Burlington.  Edie worked holding various positions with systems security and IT with a number of companies in various locations, which she thoroughly enjoyed.  Just months prior to being eligible for retirement, she was laid off from her job as her company was purchased by another; this was perfect timing for Edie as she was anxiously awaiting the birth of her granddaughter and this blessed event meant so much to her.  This gave Edie the opportunity to babysit for all of her grandchildren; first, for Isabelle then James; and later when Kenny and Kristian were born.  Edie, affectionately known as Grammy, was one of two grandmothers (Edie and Lois) who were able to share duties and their love.  Edie was a beautiful lady, inside and out; loved by many and will be sorely missed.

Edie was the beloved and cherished wife of James "Jim" F. Drolette for 58 years; loving mother of Kenneth L. Drolette of Nahant and his two sons Kenneth L. Drolette, Jr. and Kristian L. Drolette; and James F. Drolette II & his wife Kimberly of Bedford, MA, their daughter Isabelle K. Drolette and son James J. Drolette; dear sister of Donald J. MacDonald & his wife Penny Faich of Pawtucket, RI, and the late Roderick MacDonald, Jr. formerly of Moultonboro, NH.  She is also survived by her lifelong friend and "Sister", Sheila Murphy of Burlington; her special friend and cousin, Eileen Gautreau of North Weymouth, as well as many dear cousins, nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are welcome to the visiting hours at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn Street, Burlington, on Sunday, October 22, 2023, from 4:00-8:00 PM.

All are invited to Edie's funeral service at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, Burlington, on Monday, October 23, 2023, at 11:00 AM.
