Obituary of Dorothy Noreen Dellemonico

Dorothy Noreen Dellemonico (O’Neil), passed away on November 10, 2023, at the age of 92. Born to James and Dorothy in Somerville, she leaves behind a legacy of love, family, and community.

Dorothy's journey began in Somerville, where she attended and graduated from Somerville High School. It was here that she met the love of her life, Frank Dellemonico. Their story began with the daily delivery of fresh milk, and after three years of courtship, they were united in marriage. The couple made a home in Burlington, where they raised their two sons, Danny and Michael.

Dorothy's professional journey took her to EasCorp, where she played a pivotal role in the company's growth. Rising through the ranks, she achieved the position of Vice President of Finance, a testament to her dedication and leadership.

As a mother, Dorothy embraced her role as a loving Nana to her three grandchildren. She was a constant presence at dance recitals, cheering competitions, sports events, and family celebrations, offering unwavering support and love. Sundays at Dorothy's house became a cherished tradition, bringing the family together for a feast that was as diverse as it was plentiful.

Dorothy and Frank shared a passion for travel, exploring destinations by car and train. Even when Frank preferred not to fly, their adventures took them to Cape Cod, Kennebunk, Hampton Beach, and beyond. Traveling further afield, Dorothy leaned on her dear friends, especially Terry, with whom she embarked on cruises, explored Alaska, and toured Europe.

Deeply engaged in her community, Dorothy was a member of a coffee club that met regularly at Dunkin Donuts for spirited conversations and friendship. A loyal parishioner of St. Margaret’s Parish, she contributed to various community events and formed a friendship with Father Crispo, who officiated the renewal of her and Frank's wedding vows on their 50th anniversary.

Dorothy was the beloved wife of the late Frank Dellemonico. She was the loving mother to Danny and his fiancé Mallika Johnston of Burlington, Michael Dellemonico and his wife Wendi of Burlington. Dorothy was the proud Nana to Jen Pilla and her husband Matt of Burlington, Adam Dellemonico and his girlfriend Molly Hurlbert of Lincoln, RI, and Nicole Dellemonico of South Boston and newly a great-grandmother to Jackson Pilla. She was the caring aunt to many nieces and nephews who meant so much to her. She was predeceased by her sisters Mary Anderson, Jeanie Wing and Ann (Sissy) Flaherty. Dorothy was also the proud dog-mom to many loving dogs over the years.

A visitation for Dorothy will be held on Wednesday, November 15, from 4 to 7 PM at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn Street, Burlington, MA 01803. A funeral mass will be on Thursday, November 16, at 10 AM at St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn Street, Burlington, MA 01803. Family and friends are invited to gather at the Sullivan Funeral Home at 9 AM before church. Burial at Pine Haven Cemetery, 84 Bedford Street, Burlington, MA 01803 following church.
