Obituary of Muriel Marie Stevens

Muriel Marie Stevens of Naples, Florida died on November 2, 2023 after short battle with lymphatic cancer. Born in 1930 to Francis and Vera Lennon, in Burlington, VT., Marie raised her family in Burlington, MA and later moved with her husband Richard, “Dick” to the seaside community of Naples, Florida.

“Nonnie” loved: celebrating holidays with her family, hosting gatherings at the Blaisdell Lake cottage, Florida’s sunny warmth and good Pad Thai. Nonnie was a devout Catholic and active in the church community. Warm birthday and holiday cards for friends and family were one of the many ways Nonnie shared her love.

While Nonnie often referred to herself as a “tough old bird”, her parting words of advice were, "Don't get old."

Nonnie is survived by her children and their spouses: Linda Stevens of Naples, FL, Rick Stevens and Jill Fielder of Denver, CO, Carole Consalvi of Naples, FL, David and Laura Stevens of Londonderry, NH, and Ken and Liz Stevens of Merrimack, NH. Nonnie’s family extends to fifteen grandchildren and many great-grand-children.

Nonnie is also survived by five of her siblings: Frances Lennon Clark of Manteca, CA, Patricia Lennon Stuart of Atascadero, CA, Theresa Shannon of Norfolk, MA, Vincent Lennon of Naples, FL, and Richard Lennon of Boston, MA.

Predeceased by her husband Richard Stevens in 2009, Nonnie will be interred by his side in Naples. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a contribution to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI).

A celebration of Nonnie’s life will be held Saturday January 13, 2024 at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., Burlington at 11:30am, followed by a funeral home service at 12:30pm.  There will be a gathering at Café Escadrille, 26 Cambridge St., Burlington following the service.

An interment service will be held in Naples, FL later in 2024; details to follow.
